The roar of the Tiger was too loud for comfort, after all.
Bombay High Court (HC) asked Shiv Sena on Monday to reply by November 5 to allegations that it violated noise norms and damaged the playing area at Shivaji Park during Dusshera rally.
HC was hearing a plea by Wecom Trust claiming noise levels at the event crossed 70 decibels and the gathering trampled on cricket pitches at the ground.
An affidavit filed by the NGO states, "No barriers were installed to prevent noise from going out of the ground. An HC order of October 15 granting permission to the rally clearly stated no loudspeakers should be used and distributive sound system should be installed. However, the stage itself had two loudspeakers."
Shivaji Park in Dadar was declared a silence zone in 2010 in response to a PIL by Wecom. Permissible noise levels in a silence zone between 6 am and 10 pm are 50 decibels. Sena has been holding its annual Dusshera rally at the venue for more than 40 years.
Against norm
The noise level in a silence zone should not exceed 50 declibles between 6 and 10 pm (check this from copy)
But the Sena Dusshera rally at Shivaji Park crossed 70 decibles
HC had asked the party to not use loudspeakers and to install a distributive sound system
But NGO Wecom Trust claims the order was violated
