Explosives found in Purulia forest

In a joint operation led by Counter Insurgency Force and police, about 8 kg of explosives and landmine-making equipment were recovered from a forest in Bagmundi police station area in Purulia district. Pamphlets, Maoist literature and two diaries were also recovered from the area on Monday night, said police. "Two iron pipes inks and markers and apparel of men and women were also recovered from the area," said Nilratan Ghosh, OC of Bagmundi police station. No arrests have been made so far, but said there was information from Special Intelligence Branch to all the district police stations that a 12-member squad of Maoists has infiltrated. "We are yet to find out if they had been recently dumped or it was done long ago," said L N Meena, DIG, Midnapore range.
