The action taken report on the recommendations of the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) reveals that in the past one year not many of the agenda items have been executed. The members rue that some of the projects are hanging fire.
The report was recently presented in the meeting after the councillors demanded that they should be informed about the action that has been taken on their recommendations in the past one year. Most of the agenda items that had been executed were for laying of paver blocks.
One of the members, councillor Rajesh Gupta said that the F&CC is supposed to be a policy making body. However, only agenda items were approved instead of taking decision on policies. "The agenda items that can be passed in any other committee or the House were approved by F&CC. Not many of these have been completed. Very few policy decisions were discussed," he said.
Proposals like the upgradation of the dhobi ghats to modern laundry marts did not see any progress. The proposal has been hanging fire for some time and was taken up in the F&CC a few months back. The proposal entails providing modern facilities at the dhobi ghats. The pilot project had been initiated at Sector 15.
Another member opined that the progress on the agenda items has been slow. Agenda items that were passed at the beginning of the year have not witnessed execution. Some of the decisions that were taken had to be rolled back. The committee had taken a decision on starting pilot project for garbage collection in sector 22 which was stalled following opposition.
