  • With every season-ender come renewed hopes and fresh opportunities. Whoever wins the team championship crown tomorrow, the title will no doubt matter a lot to him. But that is not the only thing keeping the pulse rate of the participants at the JK Tyre National Racing championship 2007 high at the race track here.

And the expected arrival of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president Suresh Kalmadi and the optimism he generates on India’s Formula One hopes has given rise to more interest than the race itself.

During the qualifying sessions, focus in the Formula Rolon category was on the top three racers—local boy Aditya Patel and Saran Vikram from team NK Racing, and Pune racer Rayomand Banajee from Team Prime Racing.

Vikram achieved the fastest laps of 01:47:973 and 01:48:342 to take pole positions for Race 1 and Race 2, respectively, in the Formula Rolon category, while Aditya took the second spot and Banajee the third in Race 1. Race 2 will see Aditya Patel starting and Sarosh Hataria (Team Prime Racing) at third.

It was yet another great show from the champion and little master Ashwin Sundar, who captured double pole positions in the Formula Hyundai category with the fastest lap timings of 01:57:412 and 01:58:147 for Race 1 and Race 2 respectively. In Formula Swift category, it was Bangalore’s Sudarshan Rao with the lap time of 01:55:919 took pole in Race 1.
