  • The Ahmedabad Metropolitan Court has rejected the application of CID (Crime) seeking the court’s nod for conducting narco test of the police officials arrested in connection with the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case. The CID (Crime), which investigates the case had sought to conduct narco test on six police officials, including DIG D G Vanjhara, SP Rajkumar Pandian and Rajasthan SP Dinesh M N.

Having heard the submissions, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate K J Upadhyay rejected the prosecution’s application on the ground that accused consent is required for the scientific test. It may be noted that the defence had argued that Vanjhara was a heart patient and could not be subjected to such a test. The other accused had also contended in the court opposing any such test without their consent.

While, according to the prosecution, since the accused officials were not cooperating during their police remand, narco analysis was required to be carried out to determine their role in the fake encounter case.
