  • BJP condemned the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind's opposition to the recitation of Vande Mataram by Muslims and said the presence of Home P Chidambaram in its general assembly legitimised the resolution adopted endorsing a previous edict against singing of the national song.

"We begin our programmes by singing Vande Mataram. But the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind function started with a protest against the national song," BJP national vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters in New Delhi.

He demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should explain the compulsions behind the home minister to attend the programme after the resolution against singing of Vande Mataram was passed.

Naqvi said the presence of Chidambaram at the programme "gave legitimacy to the resolution...it is a matter of concern."

He claimed that the presence of a member of the Union Cabinet proved that Congress and the UPA government have a weak policy on terror and separatism.

Attacking the home minister, Naqvi said Chidambaram should have at least said something about the resolution in his speech. "I have a copy of his speech. He has mentioned about Babri mosque demolition and communal riots, but there is no mention of the resolution against Vande Mataram."

'Chidambaram criticised Babri demolition, not Vande Mataram fatwa'By: N.V.SANKARAN | 06-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Chidambaram condemned the Babri demolition only because he wanted to be in the good books of the Muslims. Not just Chidambaram, but the entire secular brigades including UPA, the Left and the mainstream media will rake up the issues of Babri demolition and Gujarat riots whenever they feel that their support base amongst the Muslims is declining. They will never let people leave them back and work for the progress of the country in their eagerness to condemn Hindu organizations and the BJP.
minorities can wag there tail only in India By: Indian | 05-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward These minorities can wag there tail only in India since we Hindus are tolerant which is being taken as an advantage by minority
Root of taliban ideology is Deobandis and darul uloom since 1866, these are same fanaticsBy: Zia | 05-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Please tell Deobandis that india is ruled by democracy not by sharia. Why they are trying to separate nation on the basis of religion? Is this real seculrism of Muslims? This is same way of Jinha, who used to called india as hindu country and curse congress as ihndu party. What is stand of sonia congress on this issue?? WE INDIANS CONDEM THIS FATWA OF DEOBANDIS. It reveals anti national sentiments of muslims. Rather than this Fatwa, deobandis should address problems like economic, education backwardness of community. Even if thet recite Vande Mataram How allha gonna punish them? How can mother and mother land are different?? I think the debate should not be focused on this particular fatwa but on the larger issue, i.e. 'Islam and nationalism.' It is often seen that Indian Muslims come out protesting on streets on issues that do not concern them directly such as Palestine or even war in Iraq. Deobandis should address why all indian jihadis were deonbandis???
fatwa falacyBy: abhsihek | 04-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward UIts very true that you cant force someone to sing a song....similarly u cant force someone NOT to sing it as well..the hillarious fatwa is thus against democracy as well.Let is be left to the common muslim citizen, what needs to be done and not.
