Mumbai, October 6:: Mumbai police claimed to have cracked Terror e-mail case, arresting 15 persons for their alleged involvement in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Surat and Bangalore blasts.

Those arrested include Mohammad Azghar (31), Mohammad Shaikh (24) and Asif Bashiruddin Shaikh (22). Police says these men visited Mumbai in July to conduct a survey on possible targets.

The key suspect worked for several years with an MNC, earning an estimated annual salary of Rs 19 lakhs, police sources say

With these arrests, the total number of people held by Mumbai police in connection with the blasts went up to 20. Some other persons were also said to have links with blasts that have occurred since 2005.

However, the police are yet to arrest Riyaz Bhatkal alias Roshan Khan, the founder-member of Indian Mujahideen (IM) which is suspected to be behind the blasts in different cities in recent months. The police have recovered explosives and arms besides laptops, pen drives from the arrested persons.

Amar Singh going Cooccoo. by Ramesh Gopisetty on 2008-10-07 07:32:40.309341+05:30
Amitabh Bacchan, Jaya Bhaduri, jaya prada should quit Samajvadhi Party in view of amar singh's defending the TRAITORS of our Country. Enough is enough all Indians should boycott Amar Singh, Mulayam Singh, Ram Vilas Paswan, Lallu and the likes.
Hold On !!! by KK on 2008-10-07 04:19:58.45955+05:30
whoa whoa whoa before jumping into any funny conclusions first take a deep breath. Not that i'm against terrorist crackdown but one just can't help wondering. Shivraj Patil had immense pressure on himself for doing nothing after the regular blasts. Who knows this might be just a hogwash. After few days we might hear that all these people nabbed were innocents. So let's not rush to judgement. Our intelligence agencies are well known for their incompetence. It's better to wait and watch.

Suspect is not equal to terrorist. Where's a court of law, brothers? by Ajay Pradhann on 2008-10-06 23:18:45.561714+05:30
Lets bnear in mind that it is difficult for the police to solve one arushi murdrer case or saumya vishwanathan case. Lets remember this is the police's version only. These are "suspects" or "accused" and have not been convicted by a court. It is indeed telling that the finer details of these suspects are revealed by the police. One wonders if the police has taken up the cause of disintegrating india ot just along communal lines but also on other metrics siuch as class and caste. The State is indeed biased with no hopes for justice for those who do not 'belong' Victimise innocents as terrorists and those who could possibly be potential victims will automatically turn terrorists. Its a cycle, remember. Oh yeah, what's happening in Orissa and Mangalore, any updates?
Brain wahsing by Vikram on 2008-10-06 21:29:42.002174+05:30
By looking at the age and the eductation of the people, it looks like this is result of mass brain washing. If we handle this withiout sensing the dreadful sensitivity involved in this, this is going to be worse I bet. These men have to sent to rehabolitation. They should be re-brainwashed to get into proper line. I undertand there is no replacement for the lives lost in the bomb blast, however one cant be swift in decision to hang them. There is a organised brainwahsing, more should be done to stop the root cause
Terrorism by Sreevidya on 2008-10-06 20:57:39.970476+05:30
Ther central intelligence agensies have started working. The UPA govt was thinking that the terrorists wouid target only BJP ruled states. After Delhi blasts they realised the magnanimaty of the situation.

Why is media so scared of revealing the name of the company and calling these anti-nationals as terrorists (and not militants). Hang these traitors.

Why is no one calling VHP and Bajrang Dal TERRORISTS although they have been terrorizing Christians and other minorities for long
Reality Check by MB on 2008-10-06 20:05:17.612604+05:30
This is a wake up call for all Software / IT companies in India. It is important for IT companies to do a frequent background check on their employess - which most companies do not

Polygraph
by Vejain on 2008-10-06 21:47:02.345803+05:30
We do not know for sure the MNC in question is an IT or a Software company. Not just MNCs, but all Blue chip companies should conduct polygraph and psychometric testing on potential recruits.
Strip off their citizenship of INDIA by Salim Khan on 2008-10-06 19:16:30.397686+05:30
Strip off their citizenship of INDIA and send them to Pakistan or Bangladesh. This is the best justice to these anti-nationals.

thhis is possible only with BJP
by indian on 2008-10-07 07:25:19.45343+05:30
yes this is the right opinion. But who will implement !! UPA?Congress is bent on appeasing muslims and hence the only solution for the present situation and to strip off the citizenship of these terrorist muslims can be done only by BJP. so we should awake and give them full powers . FOR THE MUSLIMS IT WILL BE A LIFE TIME CHANCE IF YOU JOIN HANDS WITH BJP WHO CAN CONTROL TERRORISM AND WHICH WILL HELP TO ERASE THE BRANDING OF MUSLIMS AS TERRORISTS.
giving credit where it's due by Sudha on 2008-10-06 18:42:47.98044+05:30
It is important to question the police and the government in such situations but let's remember in this case Rakesh maria is a highly respected cop with a fantastic track record and known for his integrity. Along with questioning suspicious encounters, we must also learn to give credit where it's due so that our police force isn't demoralised.
Terror mail by R.Balasundaram on 2008-10-06 18:39:59.505603+05:30
This is a dangerous trend- well educated muslims getting involved in terror activities. The issue requires consideration by the powers that be so that the community as a whole does not look suspect and job opportunity is not denied on the basis of community.

So were the 9-11
by Venkat R on 2008-10-06 20:30:45.538137+05:30
So were the 9-11 terrorists. The more educated they are more dangerous and sensesless they become. The uneducated "Jihadis" stick to Muslim areas like JK and Pakistan. It is the educated type that takes the battle to their (perceived) enemies territory.
Fake Police by jRobert on 2008-10-06 18:17:28.894937+05:30
One can beleve i this police only when it puts everything transparent.Maybe they targeted this person to make news ...and will make up another story to cover up..No denying their version might be true but seeing their performance ..we need to ask questions.

nothing fake about e-tracking of mails
by d.chatterjee on 2008-10-06 20:47:09.088474+05:30
It is a tracking of emails - done technically. Surely that can not be faked. It is not any confession which can be extracted under torture! It is required that we stop casting doubts on every action of police. It is a dangerous trait to jump to the defence of people becoz of their religion. I have not seen a single HR Activist coming to the defence of any hindu arrested on terror charges or any maoist suspect for that matter. They come alive only when the accused is a muslim. While these agencies may have their own agendas, we, common Indians need to give support to our police.
Intelligence is life and blood of fight against terrorism by Rakesh on 2008-10-06 18:17:02.046606+05:30
Seems like after long time intelligence start working and doing what they were suppose to do at first place. If we have to win war against terrorism, we have to have strong intelligence and a step ahead of terrorists.
Congrats Mumbai Police by Harsha Prasad on 2008-10-06 17:51:41.598611+05:30
Well done Mumbai Police!. But you need to answer many questions now. Why you iniitially said it was Saubhan sent mail and now saying some other person sent the mail. I hope the arrests are based on evidence not just on speculation.
