Farmhouse scam: Govt wants report in 3 days

With the Noida Authority failing to submit the report of its preliminary inquiry into the alleged Noida farmhouse allotment scam, the Uttar Pradesh government on Friday sent a reminder, demanding that the report be submitted within three days. The 15-day deadline given to the Authority has already expired.

The Noida Authority was asked to conduct a preliminary inquiry on May 27, 2012, after a brief note on the scam was sent to the government by Noida CEO Sanjeev Saran. However, the Authority suggested that the inquiry be given to an external agency.

On June 29, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav ordered that the preliminary inquiry be conducted by the Noida Authority itself and a report be submitted within 15 days.

Saran in his note had called the Noida farmhouse issue one of the "big scams" that took place during the BSP government's rule. It had cited that 150 plots were given to individuals and firms at lower than the market rate.

Along with the farmhouse scam, the Authority has been asked to conduct an inquiry into unauthorised construction to the tune of Rs 54.27 crore at the Dalit Prerna Sthal and its subsequent demolition.

The authority was also asked to look into the low quality of work related to the project to supply Ganga water to Noida.
