Even as Sylvesters father Daniel Satish was arrested on Monday for aiding his sons escape last week, the Udaipur police are still trying to determine the motive for Sylvesters escape from his Gujarat police escort and return to Udaipur. Sources in the police stated that during questioning,Sylvester had given them different versions and that they were trying to determine the veracity of his claims. Udaipur SP Alok Kumar on Monday said that Sylvesters father was arrested on charges of helping his son escape and was later released on bail. Sylvester was in his fathers house when he escaped, he said, adding that Sylvester was remanded to police custody for four days. According to senior Udaipur police officials,Sylvesters reasons for escaping varied from being hired to kill someone to settling a land deal he had been negotiating from within the Vadodara Central Jail. After fleeing from his Gujarat police escort on Friday night from Udaipur,Sylvester travelled to Ajmer, bought a gun and returned to Udaipur where he was nabbed late on Saturday night. First he claimed he wanted to threaten a potential seller in a land deal, then he said he was contracted to kill someone and later changed his version stating that he did not want to remain in Gujarat as his life was under threat, a senior police official said. Meanwhile,in Vadodara, the focus of the investigation initiated by the Crime branch has now turned towards the people who met Sylvester in Vadodara Central Jail. In more than one year that he spent in Vadodara jail,Sylvester met six persons at different times, including his lawyer. We would not like to disclose much about who those six persons are because that would affect our probe. However,we have already started checking their profiles, details about how much time was taken during the meeting and how frequently they met Sylvester, said DCP Crime Ashok Kumar Yadav who is heading the investigation into the case in Vadodara. Sources revealed that Sylvester had even made phone calls from the jail and the investigators would be obtaining the call records. Sylvester was taken to Udaipur several times and we suspect that during those visits he had activated his network. However, more information would be gathered as we progress in the investigation, Yadav said.
