Father,son held for killing colleague

The Kurar police have arrested a father-son duo for allegedly killing their colleague over a minor fight on September 8 in Malad.

The Kurar police have arrested a father-son duo for allegedly killing their colleague over a minor fight on September 8 in Malad (East). The residents of the society,where the victim worked as a security guard,found his body after a foul stench started emanating from the drainage chamber.

The accused has been identified as Deepak Singh Maurya and his father Ramayan. They fled to their hometown in Madhya Pradesh after the murder,from where a police team arrested them on Sunday. The duo is currently in police custody.

According to the police,Rakesh Kumar Maurya (28),the victim,was employed as a security guard along with Deepak and Ramayan at the Ekta Society on Film City Road.

The trio used to share the same room and had decided that whoever was on night duty would be responsible for filling water in the overhead tank.

However,according to the police,Rakesh would never fill water due to which he had arguments with Deepak on several occasions. After one such argument on September 8,Deepak attacked Rakesh with a spade and later strangulated him. Deepak then informed his father about the murder and the duo dumped the body in the drainage chamber.

“The identification of the body took time as it was badly decomposed. Once the body was identified,we learnt that the other two security guards were missing. We sent a team to their hometown in Madhya Pradesh from where they were arrested,” said Subhash Dafle,senior inspector of Kurar police station.
