FBI landing with details of Rana,Headley

“Counter terrorism,as you know,took up a lot of time in the discussion (between Prime Minister and Obama). The Prime Minister expressed concern about new hubs coming up and also raised the Headley case. President Obama said he is seized of the matter and a high-level team will be in Delhi soon with all the data collected and share it with us,” said Narayanan.

Asked whether India sought access to Headley and Rana,Narayanan said: “We will wait and see what information is provided to us. They say we will get a whole lot of information and data to glean from.”

But the NSA went on to add that he,along with Home Minister P Chidambaram,will be looking at ways to “get around” the legal issues and find a way to obtain access to the two accused. According to US law,it is not possible for Indian agencies to gain access until the indictment is complete.

It is learnt that Narayanan had a meeting with senior FBI officials in Washington who briefed him and assured that they would share the entire range of information they have on the case when their team comes to Delhi.

India had rushed a team soon after the FBI moved the court on the issue,but the team could not get much access.

While the team did receive some information,it did not exceed by much the details already provided to the court. Since then,India has launched its own investigations into the visits made by Headley and Rana to India.
