    Takashi Miike

    Shemaroo

    Rs 349

This is a classic Japanese horror movie, not as well known as The Ring, but it packs even more punch. These two films had huge impact, and were responsible for setting off the new horror wave in Hollywood. In the movie, a youngish widower wants to re-marry, and sets up an audition, on the pretext of casting for a film, to reel in potential brides.

The widower finds a pretty ballerina instantly attractive, but beneath the demure façade lies horror and depravity: flashbacks of childhood abuse are intercut with mystifying things happening in the present.

Takashi Miike’s deceptively languid beginning builds into a terrifying climax. The content is extreme, not for the faint- hearted, which automatically translates into an absolute must-have for horror fiends. Just make sure you don’t watch this alone.
