  • The CM suggested that the Centre develop one of the small states as a model to fight terrorism. “This model should cover all activities connected with terror including hawala transactions, fake currency, drug trafficking and misuse of communication equipment,” he said, adding that it could be replicated at a national level later.

He also stressed the need to equip the Indian Navy, Coast Guard and Marine Police with more boats and manpower. He asked the Centre to consider the setting up of a “National Marine Security Authority”. He also listed the measures taken by his government to fight terror including plans to set up a Police University (Raksha Shakti University). The Gujarat CM asked the Centre to sanction the scheme of coastal security recently submitted by his government, in view of the 1600-km coastline. He also demanded 30 high-speed boats sanctioned under the Coastal Security Scheme.

Modi is a Good LeaderBy: Santosh | 08-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward Man I hated Modi because of Media's Wrong Projection of his Image. But I think he is a very good leader and deserves credit for Making gujarat one of the best states in the country.we need people Like him in the center
Who should be PMBy: Amrith Rao | 07-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward None of the old present politicians are fit to rule India. They are arrogant, corrupt, communal, old, selfish, bereft of any ideology. We must have youngsters like Rahul, Scindia, Omar and a bundle of those youngmen and women with energy and life
BJP needs to be practical and make Modi PM candidateBy: Subramani | 07-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward I hope that the BJP top brass shed their politician ego, and nominate Modi as the PM candidate. Advani is too old and does not have the same charishma that Vajpayee had, Rajnath Singh comes across as a dumb person. Rajnath does not match up to the current or past BJP leadership. The BJP should learn from their mistakes of nominating unpopular leaders who lack charishma, everyone knows that Mrs. Shiela Dikshit won Delhi elections not only because she of her strong Motherly personality, but also because the BJP candidate, Mr. Malhotra was a nobody. The same principle is applicable anywhere in the world, people go by gut feeling rather than logic. Gut feeling is influenced by "presentation skills", which in turn depends on the personality of a person. Obama won hands down because McCain was too old and came across as a dull person in speeches, compared to the fiery Obama who sounded very inspiring. Similarly, Modi has a strong personality and comes across as a person who can bring change
Good speech is not the measure for qualificationBy: Raj | 07-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward Subramani, Germany was won by the speeches of Hitlor. Iran, by Abdajani. Good sppech is not equal to a good person. In that case, Lalu is the best fit. There is n better speaker in India now than Lalu. What you say about that?
Modi as PMBy: John | 07-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward Government are run by intelligent people, not Idiot like MODI. Our country men should be sensible and not get emotional.
Federlism HitBy: Tej Singh | 07-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward BJP should replace Advani with Modi as its leader, only then it has a chance to come to power. Congress once had the powerful leadership like Indira Gandhi, the only replica now is Narendra Modi. War on terror can be successful only with a strong leader like Modi else the whole army is like sitting ducks with the present leadership
