Fiat to develop small car for India

Italian auto maker Fiat plans to develop a small car,specifically for the Indian market,although it has deferred the launch of its super hatchback Bravo in India.

Italian auto maker Fiat plans to develop a small car,specifically for the Indian market,although it has deferred the launch of its super hatchback Bravo in India. “Fiat plans to develop a small car for the Indian market in Italy with the help of an Indian team. It will be launched here with our joint venture partner Tata Motors with about 80-85 per localisation,” Fiat India president and CEO Rajeev Kapoor said.

Leyland to hike prices of commercial vehicles

Ashok Leyland will hike prices of its commercial vehicles shortly due to rising input costs. “Commodity prices are going up and we are already considering to hike the prices of our products. It will happen shortly,before March,” MD R Seshayee said. The company also unveiled the country’s first electric plug-in CNG hybrid bus,HYBUS.

Mercedes luxury bus at Rs 85 lakh

Automobile maker Mercedes-Benz India launched its multi-axle luxury bus at a price of Rs 85 lakh in the domestic market. The chasis of the three-axles vehicle will be made by Mercedes Benz while the body will be assembled by its Indian partner Sutlej Motors. The bus will be powered by a Euro III engine with six cylindres.

Tata Motors ups cv prices by 1 per cent

The country’s leading automobile firm,Tata Motors,has increased prices of some of its commercial vehicles by around 1 per cent on account of rising input costs and addition of new features. “Tata Motors has passed on some (input cost) burden to customers in specific segments … We have increased prices by about 1 per cent from this month,” president (commercial vehicle business Unit) Ravi Pisharody said.

Hyundai may introduce EVs in India

Hyundai will consider introducing electric vehicles in the Indian market as demand for such cars is increasing gradually. The company,which has presence in India through a 100 per cent subsidiary,showcased the electric version of the i10. “We hope that the interest in EVs will present us with a huge opportunity to bring in this technology to the Indian market,” HMIL director Arvind Saxena said.
