Tomorrow the city will witness Ravana effigies go up in flames at 32 places.
Disclosing this, Harsh Bansal, SP City-1, said, “Keeping in view the crowd, all these venues have been categorised into three categories. The major celebration of Dusshehra will take place at nine places. These will be supervised by the gazetted police officers along with police force. The remaining 23 places will be supervised by SHOs and heads of different police stations.” He said that the security had been stepped up in the city.
Meanwhile the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarana and Meghnatth have been installed at different Dusshehra grounds. The biggest effigy of Ravana will be burnt at historical Daresi ground.
Kewal Krishan Marwaha, patron of Shri Ram Lila Committee, Daresi said, “Ravana effigy is about 70 feet high. We will burn it through remote control. Unlike others, we have already burnt the effigies of Meghnath, Kumbhakarana and Khardooshan.”
Many migrants from Agra, Muzzafarnagar, Saharanpur and Malerkotla who were busy in stitching black dresses for these effigies today gave final touch to their work. Special fireworks from Malerkota and Muzaffarnagar have been arranged by some Ramlila committees to entertain the public before burning these effigies. Today being the last day of Ramlila and Dusshehra mela, big crowds were seen at these venues.
