Writer, producer Ashok Kamle is ready with his dream project Krantiveer Rajguru, which is a tribute to the legendary freedom fighter. With already six awards in his kitty,Kamle is hoping his film has a dream runEven before its release,Krantiveer Rajguru has won five awards for different categories from Sanskriti Kala Darpan and an award from Film Federation of India. Chinmaya Mandlekar plays Rajguru, the central character and is supported by Pankaj Vishnu, who plays Bhagat Singh and Karan Mehta who plays Sukhdev. Talking about the film,writer-producer Ashok Kamle says,It is a cathartic film based on the life of Rajguru. He died very early at the age of 23 and personally I think he has not been given his due. I thought of making this film as a tribute to him. Kamle has explored a lot more about Rajguru than just his association with Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev. It took Kamle close to three-and-a-half years to study his character thoroughly and another year- and-a-half to shoot the entire film. Though the film is set in 1931,Kamle insists that the youth of this generation will be able to completely relate to it and says,We have approached the subject keeping in mind todays time. The entire film was shot in Wai,Kolhapur,Nashik and Pune. Though a lot of films have been made on Bhagat Singhs life,no one has bothered to give him his due. He just didnt fight for the country. He didnt learn English as a mark of protest and would just read and write in Kashi.Kamle also thinks of the film as a means to remind the present generation about the struggles that the freedom fighters went through. The current crop of youngsters is blissfully unaware of who Rajguru was,so this is to remind them of the true heroes of the nation. Ask him if he is not bothered about controversies arising,he remains undeterred. I am sure there will be people who are going to have issues with the film but that is not going to stop me from releasing it,I am bold enough to handle a situation like that and face the consequences. I will take whatever comes my way. he signs off.
