Though MC Commissioner GS Ghuman and Municipal Town Planner Hemant Batra had admitted to the fact that the liquor vend in the BRS Nagar green belt needs to be shifted, the area residents are still waiting to see some action.
The residents claim to have met the authorities at least thrice till now along with a formal complaint, but today they were in for a rude shock when they were informed that the complaint file had gone missing from the MC records.
Gurinderpal Singh Pappu,a resident of BRS Nagar and a Akali leader, told Newsline,We met MC commissioner twice last month and he had assured us that from the coming financial year, the kiosk would be alllotted some other place. Now,April is almost over and the MC team has not done anything as yet.
According to information,Ghuman had asked the Building branch to investigate the case. Sources also claim that Batra had even agreed to demolish the kiosk if the owner did not relocate.
The file, however, was sent to Ghuman for a formal approval from where it has reportedly been misplaced.
It seems that the MTP and Commissioner are passing the buck and fooling us. Over 500 residents of J-block of BRS Nagar had signed a letter seeking the relocation of the kiosk from the green belt. Despite our complaints, nothing has been done till date, rued Gurinderpal.
Assistant Town planner Ramesh Chabbra had stated earlier that they were ready to demolish the kiosk but are waiting for formal written orders from the Commissioner.
It,however, seems that the MC is no longer in the mood to shift the kiosk.
Last year, the kiosk owner had reportedly paid Rs 3 lakh as rental for using MC land. Although Chabbra stated that he along with his men had warned the kiosk owner to shift on his own from April 1 onwards, nothing has been done almost after a month after the deadline.
Area residents, meanwhile, are demanding that Ghuman pursue the matter and confirm how the complaint file was misplaced and why the authorities are following delay tactics in removing the kiosk. Ghuman was, however, not available for comments.
