Film producer held for stealing diesel from trucks on highways

The Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) arrested a Gujarati film producer,Paresh Patel,from his office on Narol Highway for allegedly stealing diesel from trucks passing through Ahmedabad highways,on Tuesday.

The Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) arrested a Gujarati film producer,Paresh Patel,from his office on Narol Highway for allegedly stealing diesel from trucks passing through Ahmedabad highways,on Tuesday. Patel’s assistant,Gopal Barot,was also nabbed from the office.

Patel (38),according to the DCB,was lately into diesel theft. Earlier,he worked as a bootlegger in Vanzaravas area of Narol for 10 years. During this period,he was arrested under PASA in 1992,1995 and 1998,said DCB officials.

The crime branch officials added that after the closure of his bootlegging business,Patel got into diesel theft along with one Chetan and H K Singh. He used to break locks and steal diesel from the trucks parked near petrol pumps and hotels on city highways. He was in this business since 2002. He was caught earlier from Naroda,Vatva,Kadi,Vadodara,Lalkothi and Ankleshwar for stealing diesel.

Patel was educated only up to Class 5 and used to run a tea stall at Narol. Later he worked as a labourer in a sari dying company. After little success in labour work,he got into bootlegging to earn more money,revealed the DCB. The DCB claimed that in order to come out of the illegal business,Paresh Patel got into film production and was lately coming up with a film named Preet Gheli Radha. The police have booked the two accused under sections 379 and 114 of the Indian Penal Code.
