Work is priority even over her relationship with Ranbir Kapoor, insists Deepika Padukone

They are a hot couple and do not hide their relationship. They have no qualms about a public display of affection. But still, for hotties Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor, career comes first. To a query about choosing between a great film and his relationship, Ranbir shot back, “The film.”

When asked about her choice, the savvy Deepika sweetly said, “Same here,” but quickly defended it with, “We have just started out in the industry, so it is natural that our careers come first.”

How serious the spunky actress is about her career is also evident from her professionalism. “I have a reputation of reporting on the dot for my shoots and events,” she said. The discipline, she says, evolved because she started travelling on her own for her badminton matches when she was 12. “I’ve lived in dormitories, travelled in trains by second class and got up at dawn for my practice. I am attuned to a disciplined life and this has seeped into my acting career as well.”

Even though she never dreamed of films as a career, Deepika now treasures every moment that she has spent working on her two movies, Om Shanti Om and Bachna Ae Haseeno. “My first day of shooting with Shah Rukh Khan for OSO will be etched in my mind forever. Even otherwise, every day I have spent on a film set is very dear to me.” She waives aside the insinuation that Farah Khan was annoyed with her for not keeping in touch with her after OSO was over. “There was no truth in it. Am I not doing her brother Sajid Khan’s Housefull with Akshay Kumar?”

    ... contd.
