  • After operating from rented premises for years, the city family court will finally get a permanent structure. A new multistorey building would come up on the plot situated opposite the district court in Shivajinagar.

The state government has granted funds for this purpose after district judge Vijay Achliya had taken up the matter with the Bombay Law and Judiciary Department.

The Bombay Law and Judiciary Department has given administrative approval for constructing the new building. Rs 10.50 crore is the estimated expenditure for the construction of the new state-of-the-art structure.

According to the district court officials, the state government godown, situated opposite the district court, will be razed to give way to the new court. A total of eight courts would be housed in the new building. Work on demolishing the godown is currently underway. The construction of the new building would start within three months.
