Riding the crest of its success in West Bengal and Kerala, the Left now wants the Representation of the People Act to be ‘‘fine-tuned’’ and a discussion on the ‘‘double standards’’ in the conduct of elections in the current session of Parliament.
“As law makers we can discuss any issue. For the health of the election process, you cannot have every Election Commission claim they have conducted free and fair elections (in a manner) that no one has done before,’’ CPM leader Sitaram Yechury said on Friday.
