For those with a weakness for all things sweet, here's how to 'indulge' to your heart's delight and yet not regret it
What do you do to bring a smile on the face of someone who has an oversized sweet tooth? What is the one dish that guests look for after a sumptuous dinner at a marriage? Cakes, what else? With the season of festivities all set to kick off, people have enough reasons to savour cakes and dips. And as if on cue, the city has yet another confectionary throwing its doors open to cake lovers.
Indulgence, at Koregaon Park, is the newest confectionary in town, and ideally located to provide a delightful treat of yummy cakes, desserts and Austrian specialties to lovers of all things sweet. "I started cooking during my school days. Incidentally, my husband is a confectioner from Austria and it's from him that I got to learn different types of Austrian specialities, like strudels, cheesecakes, fresh cream tortes, apart from the regular dips. For the last 14 years, I have been supplying cakes and desserts to restaurants and parties, right from my home. But now, with Indulgence, I have started my own confectionary," says Mazo Huppel, owner of Indulgence.
From cream cakes, cheese cakes and mousses to Austrian strudels and brownies, Indulgence offers an opportunity to taste some real good stuff. As of today, the shop has launched around seven varieties of cakes and breads, but soon, it will be offering a wider variety of mushroom and cream cheese dips. While the assortments range from Rs 215 - Rs 380 a pound, the pastries cost upwards of Rs 45. However, Indulgence also has on offer enough delicacies to attract vegetarians and diet freaks, as it makes some yummy eggless and sugar-free cakes. A big plus here is that every thing on offer is purely home made. The confectionary has also come up with a special Happy Hours offer from 7:45 to 9 pm on Wednesdays, where customers can get everything on display at half the usual price.
