Fire breaks out at 3 places in the cty; no one hurt as blaze quickly brought under control

Fire broke out in Sant synthetic factory after a boiler at the unit busted on Wednesday night. The fire quickly spread to various parts of the factory and even to the nearby vacant area as well

The explosion caused by the mishap was so strong that it was heard by the residents even at a kilometer’s distance from the unit.

Although the workers were inside the factory, but as per the claims of the SHO, Salem Tabri, Daljit Singh, “No casuality was reported as it was a merely an accident due to which fire also spread inside the unit.”

The firemen took about an hour to douse the fire in the unit, which lacked emergency fire-fighting arrangement. Because of this, the unit was not able to handle the situation themselves.

It may be mentioned that this is a second incident of boiler busting in the past four days. In the previous case, the dyeing unit had not even taken authorization from PPCB for running the unit. However even in yesterday night incident as well, the unit was ill equipped to handle accidents of this sort, but police authorities have given them a clean chit saying that it was an accident.

Apart from this even in another incident which happened today afternoon in a cardboard factory located at Noorwala road, the firemen took about an hour to douse the flames. The cause of fire was not know, but panic spread in the entire area because the workers were inside.
