
In an attempt to woo the global audience, actor Hrithik Roshan unveiled the first look of his much hyped film 'Kites' amid fanfare at the Cannes Film Festival.
The teaser trailer and some key art posters of the film were released before the global media by Hrithik in the presence of the cast and crew of the film at the festival's market.
Produced by Rakesh Roshan and directed by 'Gangster' fame Anurag Basu, the film also stars Mexican actress Barbara Mori. 'Kites' is expected to hit the theatres across the world in the last quarter of 2009.
"A film like 'Kites' has never been attempted in India before. This is our attempt to tap the mainstream international audience and we are hopeful that we will be able to meet this objective," producer Rakesh Roshan said in a press conference here.
Keeping in mind the international audiences, the producers will release the English language version globally where as in India, they will release the film in Hindi.
Hrithik said that 'Kites' is a love story that transcends linguistic and cultural boundaries.
"With an internationally renowned crew, crisp story telling we have attempted to create a film which we feel has a scope to reach wider world audience and set new benchmarks," the Bollywood actor said.
Director Anurag Basu, who has earlier directed films like 'Life In A Metro' and 'Gangster' said, "It has been an enriching experience to shoot the film with an international team across world cites. I am happy that Kites is getting such great exposure at Cannes Film Festival, the world's biggest film market."
