Adani Groups mega power plants first unit of 330 mw at Mundra has been commissioned and synchronised,a top executive said on Monday.
We have successfully synchronised the first unit of 330 MW in a matter of just 28 months, Adani Group chief Gautam Adani said.
The facility, about 400 km from here, was synchronised on Sunday. The power plant, the first by the leading private group, has a capacity of 4,620 MW,consisting four turbines of 330 mw each and five turbines of 660 mw each.
The Rs 19,106-crore project is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of 2011,he said.
Giving details of the project,an Adani Group official said: This unit incorporated several innovations, both in technology and project management. The plant uses large diametre glass reinforce pipes(GRP) for transporting sea water, which has been done for the first time in the country.
Adani Power,a group subsidiary, has sourced boiler, turbine and generators from Chinese suppliers, the official added.
The company has laid 400KV double circuit transmission line for over 400 km from Mundra to Dehgam to evacuate power to the national grid, he said, adding the circuit line has already become functional.
We have planned to commission one turbine in every quarter. By March 2010,all the four turbines of 330 mw each will be commissioned and by June 2010,the first turbine of 660 mw will be commissioned, he said.
In the Mundra plant, the company has opted for super critical category for all its 660 mw units, which are more efficient over conventional sub-critical category in generating power, the official said.
