Incidents of violence were reported from Firozabad and Jaunpur districts during the bypoll, which took place on Saturday.
Supporters of BSP and Congress clashed in Firozabad, where four persons, including a Dalit woman in Khairagarh area, were injured.
A group of locals also attacked the convoy of BSP candidate Rajdeo Singh, alleging rigging at a polling centre in Sikrara area of Jaunpur. The FIRs were yet to be lodged in both the incidents till late evening.
Superintendent of Police of Firozabad Raghubir Lal said the incident took place outside a polling centre at Pratapura village, when a Congress supporter Mukul Tiwari alleged that BSP men were promoting bogus voting in favour of their candidate.
Tiwari threatened to lodge a complaint with the zonal magistrate.
The BSP supporters, meanwhile, led by gram pradhan Yashpal Singh and a party worker Urmila tried to overpower Tiwari and stopped him from calling the magistrate.
Fearing an attack, Tiwari called up other Congress supporters and both the groups engaged in brick-batting.
A few of them even fired in the air.
The violence affected the polling at the centre for over an hour.
The violence in Jaunpur occurred when BSP candidate from Rari Assembly constituency Rajdeo Singh, who is also the father of mafia-turned-local party worker Dhananjay Singh, reached the polling centre at Shatalpur village.
Jaunpur Superintendent of Police Ram Bharose said: “Singh and his men had forcibly entered the polling booth.
The supporters of other parties objected over the BSP candidate going inside the rooms along with his associates.”
