  • The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has ordered a probe into an incident in which a doctor was recently allowed to board a Delhi-bound Air India flight at the Bamrauli airport in Allahabad on a ticket issued in the name of another person — a serious violation of security norms.

A deputy commissioner from BCAS in Mumbai landed in Allahabad on Thursday to begin the probe into the incident that took place on April 11.

Dr D S Mishra had boarded Air India flight no 7802 on a ticket originally issued in the name of one Ghanshyam Beni. Dr Mishra apparently enjoys good rapport with the local airport authorities.

The matter came to light after another doctor, who also wanted to board the same flight, filed a complaint with the commissioner of security, BCAS.

“I am surprised to know that Dr Mishra was allowed by the airport authorities to fly on someone else’s ticket. I was also offered the same ticket but I refused,” said the complainant, who did not wish to be named.

Deputy Commissioner S P Singh on Thursday inspected the airport, seized some documents and interrogated the station masters of Air India, Naveen Lal and Uma Shankar, aerodrome officer Silva Kumar and other officials concerned with the safety and security of the passengers and the flight.

“Several serious lapses came to light during the investigation. It was not the first such case. The authorities have been doing so often. They even allow non-trained officials to prepare the trim chart of the flight, which is against the guidelines of the Directorate of Civil Aviation,” an official present during the inquiry said.
