Four months after her book launch, city girl Tishaa Khosla tops the best-seller author list!
Her book told us that sometimes in life pink is black and black is pink, but for Chandigarh’s young author Tishaa Khosla, life is about the colour of success well earned. The reason? Tishaa’s debut book Pink and Black has sold a record one lakh copies in four months. What’s more, she now features with important literary names like Chetan Bhagat, Shobhaa De, L K Advani, Aravinda Adiga in the best-seller’s lineup! “Besides, a leading filmmaker has shortlisted the book for a movie,” tells Kapish G Mehra, chief publisher Rupa and Co who was present at the ongoing Rupa book exhibition being held at Lajpat Rai Bhawan in Sector 15, Chandigarh.
“It’s a great feeling that the book has been received so well, though it was a bit unexpected too. I guess it’s because even though it is fiction, it is about real people, real issues. My readers tell me how they can relate to the book as if it’s their story,” smiles Tishaa. While Mehra adds that the journey of the book has been an upward curve, “even in times of recession. The story has to have honesty to make a mark. Doing exactly that Tishaa has now become an international author.” A reason why Rupa publications has decided to present her book in international forums like Frankfurt Book Fair, London Book Fair and Paris Book Fair to promote licenses for German, French, Dutch and Spanish markets. All of 18, she doesn’t feel that success has come early to her. “I have worked really hard on the book. Any success that comes my way is welcome. I am very grounded, so none of this will go to my head,” says Tishaa.
