Alliance Francaise de Pune (AF, Pune) will now be focussing on having more tie-ups with educational institutes in the city for promoting French language and culture. It will also focus on academic exchanges in fields of research.
Luc Didon, who has assumed charge as the new director of AF, Pune 10 recently said AF, Pune has various plans in the pipeline for the same. He also said AF, Pune would like to have more formal interactions between French and Pune artistes that could help understand each other’s culture better.
Didon, who was posted in Trinidad and Tobago in the West Indies as a Cultural Attaché of the French Embassy and director of Alliance Française of Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados before coming to Pune, said he would like to develop the relationship between AF, Pune and educational institutes in the city.
“Lot can be done through educational institutes. When I was posted in Hyderabad in 1992 as an AF director, AF had tie-up with a research institute there. AF used to arrange lectures of eminent French personalities in science including a Nobel laureate. I will try to bring that kind of association with the educational institutes in the city,” he said.
“As Pune is known as educational hub, it will prove a great association. We already have tied up with Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT) to teach French language and culture to the students taking admission for shared Masters’ programme of VIT and GEM group of Institutes, France,” said Didon.
