International Meatless Day on November 25 will witness series of activities to encourage vegetarianism and denounce killing of animals
Leading mankind closer to the essence of compassion towards all living beings, the Sadhu Vaswani mission with its branches all over the world, is all set to celebrate International Meatless Day on November 25 with great reverence and spiritual fervour as the day also commemorates the 129th birth anniversary of Rev Sadhu T L Vaswani. The day is a conscious reminder of the violent and inhuman treatment meted out to the animals just to satiate some eager appetites.
"Sadhu Vaswani was compassion personified. He preached love and care towards all living beings. He always felt that we should take good care of them and not indulge in any kind of violence against them. So the Mission took this initiative to celebrate International Meatless day as a tribute to the teachings of our guru," relates Gulshan Dudani, secretary of SAK (Stop All Killing) Association, formed under the Vaswani Mission.
The Meatless day, which was first initiated by the mission in 1986, is observed by worldwide followers of Sadhu Vaswani, wherein the followers refrain from any food item that even remotely involves a non-vegetarian ingredient.
Interestingly, on Nov 25 all the slaughter houses in Pune will be closed. "Every year we approach the concerned authorities to close down the slaughter houses on this day and as a mark of respect to the noble cause, they do abide by our request. In fact we have also got assurances on the same issue from certain other state governments in India as well as abroad," elaborates Dudani.
