When it’s Swati Snacks, it’s always a good time. Don’t be misled by the name; you can make meals out of the snacks served here. However, it’s most famous for its snacks, street-style spicy food. It’s easy to get there; just get to Tardeo and say Swati Snacks to anyone. Panki, Dal Dhokli, Gatta nu Shaak are some of the popular dishes here. Food critic Rashmi Uday Singh swears by this place and says, “It is one of the best places for Gujarati food in town. The snacks are unbeatable, all-time eats.” Waiting time is usually half-hour, all days of the week. An important Gujarati address, this one is a must-go during Navratri time.

    Bhagat Tarachand

    Kalbadevi

Some places run out of food but never of eager diners. Bhagat Tarachand in Kalbadevi is one such place. It started out as a small lunch joint, today there stand three Bhagat Tarachands in one line. “Here, you should know to ask for food without onions and garlic. There are lots of Jains and Gujarati frequenting this place. I recommend their paneer preparations. Everything here is good,” says Reema Jain, an executive with Indiainfoline, who visits the place every now and then. The other USP of the place is chilled chaas served in beer bottles.
