Despite the ongoing controversy over food poisoning, BMC will resume on Monday supply of flavoured milk to municipal schools.
Education committee chairman Vitthal Kharatmol said lab tests showed the milk did not cause food poisoning.
"The flavoured milk supply will restart next week. We sent the milk to the public hospital laboratory and tests show there are no harmful elements in it that may have caused food poisoning," he said.
Eleven students of the Urdu municipal school in Malvani, Malad, had suffered food poisoning after drinking flavoured milk on October 11.
Following the incident, BMC stopped milk supply to all civic schools.
Additional municipal commissioner Mohan Adtani had then said, "It is not known if it was food poisoning but the children were vomiting. We have sent the milk for testing but are stopping supply for now."
In September too, the corporation had temporarily suspended supply of flavoured milk following four cases of food poisoning at the Prabodhankar Thackeray School in Sewri.
The supply resumed after the civic body claimed test results were negative for contamination.
The corporation had approved the proposal to supply flavoured milk to BMC school students in May at a cost of Rs 121 crore despite Opposition protests.
After 11 cases of food poisoning in 2010, the civic body had found packaged milk supplied then unfit for consumption.
