It's a potpourri!
Don't we all love one-stop exhibitions that bring in more than one thing. Well, here's the latest to roll in. City-based Neeru Suri along with daughter in law Shilpa has spread out a potpourri that brings in artifacts, paintings, shawls, herbal beauty products, jewellery, linen and more under their label 'G & I'. "That stands for gifts and ideas," tells Neeru who walks us through the spread. Leading the front are curios and paintings in brass and wood from Thailand. Expect to find Buddha heads, Ganeshas and the like along side some contemporary artwork. Next in line are the Kashmiri shawls that come in a variety of avatars. With prices starting at Rs 300, there's something for everyone. Also finding space in the Suri set-up (the exhibition is on at their home #17, Sector 11) is a counter boasting of a natural beauty product by the brand 'Farm Essentials'. "These are herbal beauty products that are sourced from our farm in Jabalapur," mentions Esha who lists out handmade soaps, aromatherapy oils and face packs etc. The exhibition all brings in a spread of linen – sequined cushion covers, patchwork bedspreads, zari table cloths etc – along with precious jadau jewellery as well. But what's worth a pick are the silk handbags and clutches from Vietnam, priced as low as Rs 350.
The exhibition is on till December 14.
Active Tense
THE fact that there are no or very few takers for it doesn't deter VK Kaushik. "Irrespective of what people say or how it is perceived, you should always be able to make a positive contribution to the society...light the place where you sit," Kaushik keeps his check and balance, through a medium closest to his heart - filmmaking. And the latest from this 'social activist' is a film on female foeticide, Kahin Aap To Nahin produced by Ashok Sethi. "I have tried to stir the conscience of the people involved in this heinous act, right from the mother, husband, the parents, the relatives to the doctors, nurses and society at large," says Kaushik who has earlier made films on equally relevant issues like drugs and AIDS. "My aim is to convey my message, in any manner." His son-in-law is Pinjar's Dr Chandraprakash Diwedi, and Kaushik otherwise too belongs to a film background. "It's in my blood, in my thought," he is already penning his next - on sex education.
