HSBC Global technologies edged past BMC software in a thriller second semi final of the 7th Inter IT tournament at the Rangehills Ground in Khadki. While HSBC had looked in fine nick during the length of the entire tournament, BMC had, had their fair share of ups and downs during their run right uptil the semi finals. On a scorching Saturday afternoon the two teams began the first half in careful fashion with both teams trying hard to wrestle control of the ball and keep the battle for the same confined to the mid-field. In the 15th minute however an inspired solo run by HSBC centre half Atul Naik left the BMC goalkeeper, Vineet Deshpande rooted to his spot as the ball whizzed past the goal face, only to kiss the side post before going out. BMC on the other hand were left fighting for the control of the ball, as the HSBC mid field made them look like an amateur school team.
BMC central midfielder Jason Vaz however was awarded a yellow card for clumsily tackling HSBC centre half, Atul Naik who had managed to make an impressive run into the BMC half. With the match pushing towards a tiebreaker both sides boosted their offensives with HSBC making most of the runs, while BMC forwards running into blind alleys frustrated at the inability of their midfield to penetrate the HSBC defence.
In extra time, HSBC proved to have the stronger nerves, winning in sudden death. They will now play Capegemini in the finals next weekend.
