As designer Varun Bahl says, “If you turn up in chappals, then you come across as someone with a very individual sense of style and also someone who doesn’t care for what people think.”

Chappals must however be worn right, or they can turn out into a disaster. Varun recommends: “Kohlapuris or leather chappals with linen pants are very chic. But turning up in beach chappals is a no-no.”
