For once, Sachin on wrong side of record books

  • Sachin Tendulkar became the first Indian and 11th player to get 20 or more ducks in ODIs. His second-ball duck in the match against Sri Lanka at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday was his 20th duck in 403 innings of 413 ODIs.

    Javagal Srinath who failed to open his account on 19 occasions in 121 innings of 229 ODIs between 1991 and 2003 held the previous record of most ducks for India.

    Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya holds the world record of most ducks in ODIs. He was out without scoring on 30 occasions in 396 innings of 408 matches. His 30th duck came against India on Tuesday.

    Saching Tendulkar has five ducks each against Pakistan (64 innings of 66 matches) and the West Indies (38 innings of 38 matches), four ducks (37 innings of 38 matches) against New Zealand, three ducks in 64 innings of 68 matches against England, two ducks in 57 innings of 57 matches against Australia and one duck in 52 innings of 52 matches against South Africa.
