  • Bodies of two foreign nationals — Cathleen Marry O Brian (from US) and Anwar Khan (from Pashtun) — are with the Kolkata police, as no relative from their countries have claimed their bodies yet.

“We have asked the US consulate officials to inform Cathleen’s family to take her body. But her father refused to take her body. The consulate is now looking for Cathleen’s husband. The relatives of Khan are also yet to turn up to claim his body,” said Damayanti Sen, Deputy Commissioner, detective department.

“We found several medicines in Cathleen’s bag. The names are in Japanese. We came to know that all those medicines are either anti-depressant or sedative. We have sent her viscera to the forensic laboratory. We are yet to get the autopsy and the forensic report,” added Sen.

According to Sen, the bodies will not be cremated unless the US and the Afghan consulate ask the police to do so.
