The ongoing 19th All India Forensic Sciences Conference,2009,on Monday saw speakers from various fields. While Ravi Patil of Mumbai ATS spoke on Cyber terrorism, Dr Jaiprakash Shewale from the US talked about Molecular methods for combating terrorism and Werner Schuller from Interpol (France) referred to Disaster victim identification.
Three experts from the UK David Robinson,Andrrew Morris and Paul Evernigton also delivered lectures on AV forensic labs,Use of visual analysis in countering terrorism and Ballistics and terrorism respectively. The experts emphasised on the need for comprehensive counter-terrorism-methods advocating the establishment of DNA databank of terror suspects.
M S Rao,Chief Forensic Scientist,Directorate of Forensic Sciences,had said that India will soon boast of six new high-level Forensic Science Laboratories (FSLs),12 regional FSLs and 100 mobile FSLs. Nirma University is hosting the three-day conference,with focus on Forensics to Counter Terrorism.
