High drama was witnessed at the Easy Day store in the city after two former women employees alleged “exploitation” by their senior and said they were forced to resign.

The women said they had also submitted their complaints to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to get justice.

Around noon, the girls (names withheld to protect identity) along with their relatives and mediapersons arrived at the recently-opened store in a shopping mall near the railway station and alleged that a senior official at the store used to pass “vulgar comments” at them and thathe also tried to physically exploit them.

They added that when the matter was brought to the notice of higher-ups,the services of the person were terminated but he was later reinstated.

The women claimed that company officials forcibly got their signatures on resignation papers and were “made to suffer just because they had raised their voice against exploitation”.

“We have lodged separate complaints with the SSP who has given us an assurance that justice would be ensured,” said one of the women.

While no senior officer of the store was willing to speak to the media, claiming that they were not authorised to speak,a press release issued by a local public relations firm said,“A thorough investigation was conducted into the allegations of the former employees and the views of all parties involved were taken.

The investigation clearly concluded that the allegations being levelled are completely false and motivated.”

The release did not mention the name or designation of the issuing authority.

Store operations remained disrupted for hours due to the heavy presence of supporters of the women and the media.
