A former General Manager of state-owned trading firm MMTC Ltd and two others have been sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment each by a special CBI court here in a cheating case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 each on them. The then General Manager of MMTC Ltd,Jaipur,N S Rathore and Pradeep Kamra and Rajesh Kamra,both partners of Rajesh Pesticides,Sriganganagar,Rajasthan,were convicted under different sections of IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act for causing a loss of Rs 15.83 lakh to the company. A case was registered by CBI on January 3,2002 against Rathore and Rajesh Pesticides. "The allegation in brief was that Rathore,while working as public servant in the capacity of Deputy General Manager and General Manager,MMTC Ltd,Jaipur,during the year 1995 to 2000 had abused his official position and entered into criminal conspiracy with Rajesh Pesticides and misappropriated stock of fertiliser of MMTC Ltd," a CBI spokesman said. After investigation,the Jaipur Branch of CBI had filed a chargesheet on September 12,2009 against all the three. The chargesheet has accused Rathore of violating the standard prevailing rules and procedures,thereby causing wrongful loss to MMTC Ltd and corresponding wrongful gain to Rajesh Pesticides besides others. "Thus,Rathore,in criminal conspiracy with Rajesh Kamra and Pradeep Kamra had committed offence of criminal misappropriation putting the MMTC Ltd under wrongful loss of Rs 15.83 lakh and corresponding wrongful gain to Rajesh Pesticide," the spokesman said. "The trial court found the accused persons guilty," he added.
