In a bid to retain the house, he had some months ago written to the Administration to transfer the house in the name of his wife, a doctor in General Hospital Sector 16
Taking a cue from the controversy of the allotment of residence of former leader of opposition, Punjab, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and present leader of opposition Sunil Jakhar, the former Principal Secretary of Punjab Chief Minister, DS Guru has finally vacated his official residence after about a year of his retirement and the possession has been handed over to the UT Administration.
Sources said that a few months ago Chandigarh Administration had started eviction proceedings of former Principal Secretary to Chief Minister DS Guru who lived in Sector 5. When he was PS to CM, this official accommodation had been allotted to him. But as he took premature retirement last year to fight assembly elections, which he lost, he could keep the house for four months more. However, he still kept the house and he was now being charged penal rent of Rs 55,400 per month.
In a bid to retain the house, he had some months ago written to the Administration to transfer the house in the name of his wife who is a doctor in General Hospital Sector 16, but that was not done as she is not entitled for this house, but only to a smaller house, said sources.
Sources said that Guru had given in writing to the Administration that he would vacate the house by November 21, but he vacated it only two or three days ago.
This was confirmed by an officer of the Administration. Guru has reportedly shifted to an accommodation in Zirakpur.
