Former minister for minority affairs Anees Ahmad alias Phool Babu today appeared for questioning before the Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) of police cooperative cell in the matter of allegedly taking kickback for allotment of works to Labour and Construction Cooperative Federation (LACCFED).
Ahmad, who had been sent notice earlier and had then failed to make it, appeared today. He, however, sought more time again to collect some documents before replying to queries related to the charges against him. He has been asked to arrange the papers and appear for questioning after two days, confirmed SIB sources.
Earlier, he had been issued notice to come for questioning on October 15 which was extended for November 5 on his request. The minority department, during his tenure, had allocated Rs 18 crore to LACCFED for construction of buildings.
Meanwhile, former animal husbandry minister Awadhpal Singh Yadav and former institutional finance minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi are yet to appear before the SIB for questioning despite being sent notices and given time by the investigating officer (IO) twice.
Awadhpal and Nandi were initially summoned for questioning on October 10 and 13, respectively. They requested for more time and were asked to come on October 14 and October 27, respectively.
