Former MLA Bhagwati Prasad dead

Former MLA Bhagwati Prasad,who was admitted in Bahraich district hospital on Sunday following deteriorating health conditions,died on Tuesday afternoon after prolonged illness. He is survived by his wife,three sons and a daughter. Prasad was a two-time MLA from Ikauna constituency,which now falls in Shravasti district,from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh Party in 1967-69 and 1969-74.

“He died at 12.45 pm. We have brought him to our village Madara in Shravasti,where he will be cremated on Wednesday,” said Gandhi Prasad,his son. Prasad was admitted to the hospital following chronic renal failure and was on oxygen support for the last two days. “He died due to multiple organ failure and age-related complications,” said Dr Kansu Ram,Chief Medical Superintendent of the district hospital.

Prasad,who was rushed to the hospital after complaints of breathing problems and swelling in the body,had to spend oven an hour on the floor of the emergency section of the hospital due to rush of patients on Sunday.
