Former MP,4 others injured in Pak blast

A former MP belonging to the main opposition PML-N party was among five people injured when a bomb went off at his petrol pump in Peshawar.

A former MP belonging to the main opposition PML-N party was among five people injured when a bomb went off at his petrol pump in Pakistan’s restive northwest on Friday,police said.

A remote controlled explosive device hidden in a bicycle was used to target the petrol pump of former parliamentarian Naseer Muhammad Khan in Lakki Marwat district at 1 pm local time.

Khan,who belongs to PML-N party,and four other injured persons were taken to a nearby hospital,police said.

District police chief Ayub Khan said eight to 10 kgs of explosives were used in the attack.

Police beefed up security in the area and launched a search for those responsible for the blast. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

In recent weeks,the Taliban have targeted workers and leaders of various political parties,especially the Awami National Party that rules North West Frontier Province.
