Shares of Fortis Healthcare ended almost flat on the Bombay Stock Exchange,paring some of its early morning gains,after the company said it will buy 10 hospitals from Wockhardt for Rs 909 crore. Shares of Fortis closed at Rs 116.25,up 0.17 per cent over previous close. During the trade the scrip had surged 3.96 per cent to a high of Rs 120.65. On the National Stock Exchange however,the scrip lost 0.04 per cent to settle at Rs 116.40. Nearly 43 lakh shares changed hands on both the bourses. Meanwhile,shares of Wockhardt Ltd dipped nearly three per cent amid choppy trading on the bourses today. The scrip of Wockhardt Ltd,which had increased over two per cent in the morning trade,lost ground and dipped 2.91 per cent to Rs 171.65 on the BSE. On the NSE,the Wockhardt scrip settled with a loss of 2.91 per cent at Rs 171.70. Nearly six lakh shares changed hands on both the bourses. Hospital chain Fortis yesterday announced acquiring 10 Wockhardt Hospitals for Rs 909 crore. The buyout would add 1,902 beds to its existing capacity,taking it to 5,180 across 38 hospitals. The deal is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
