Found in Translation

“In our organisation,we make sure that we train the translators and equip them an in-depth knowledge of the language they are interested in working with before we put them into the job market,” says Nulkar who takes up the responsibility to professionalise the translation industry in India and represent it on a global platform and create a comfort level for global corporates in India by offering them complete language solutions.

Having attained fluency in languages like French,Italian,Spanish,Portuguese and German,and a number of vernacular Indian languages,the multilingual entrepreneur realised the need of setting up an organisation to find a solution to transcend the barriers of language in the corporate world back in 1993 and has since been working tirelessly towards his cause of producing industry-ready candidates as translators.

Rishon Reuben,a 25 year-old MBA degree holder is working as a professional translator since last year. He translates technical documents like manuals and brochures by various German companies that are published in German into English. “It was during my MBA days that I started taking up the German language course at Max Mueller Bhavan. After I completed all the seven levels,I started working as a translator with the BITS. I love my job because my hobby,of learning the German language,is now a full-time vocation,” says Reuben.

Another lover of languages,Manjiri Gholap,who is studying the fourth level of German at Max Muller Bhavan,has considered the profession of a translator as her career after she completes her degree. “My first brush with German happened during my junior college years at Apte Prashala. It is my favourite subject as I grasp it easily. After my visit to Berlin and Potsdam last year,I have gained more interest in the language,” says 26 year-old Gholap. There are over 280 German firms in the city,and the figures are increasing at a rapid pace. “This proves that there are many job opportunities for German translators,” adds Gholap.

The city also has many companies from Japan,Korea and other countries where translators are needed. Apart from Max Mueller Bhavan,which specialises in language training in German,there are other institutes like Ranade Institute,Alliance Francaise and Symbiosis that offer courses for various languages.
