Four abandoned siblings rescued in Panchkula

The Panchkula district administration on Thursday rescued four children from Majri Chowk with one of them claiming that their father had killed their mother.

The Panchkula district administration on Thursday rescued four children from Majri Chowk with one of them claiming that their father had killed their mother.

Following a call on the child helpline around 4 pm,the district child welfare officer rescued eight-year-old Vanita,her sisters — Sonia (5) and Chandani (2) — and four-month old brother Suraj.

“My father has killed my mother Bubbly. I will not stay with him. My father Satbir used to beat my mother often. Around one-and-half-months ago,she was beaten with rods in the stomach,after which she was taken to the hospital,where she died,” she added.

After killing her mother,Satbir fled and her aunt was looking after them.

“Four days ago,my father returned and hit me. He also tried to strangle my brother,” said Vanita,whose face was bruised with injury marks. On Thursday,the aunt reportedly left the children near Majri Chowk.

“Today,a call came on the child helpline saying that these children were found sitting near Majri Chowk. After rescuing them,we shifted them to Shishu Grah in Sector 15. The deputy commissioner has also been informed of the incident,” said Varinder Singh,District Child Welfare Officer.

He added that while the police have been informed about the children,medical examinations of the four have been conducted.
