Four held for killing youth at wedding

Four persons were arrested on Wednesday for the murder of a man during a marriage party, police said.

Police said the youth, Ravinder Gujjar, was murdered on Friday night following an altercation with a group of six men, four of whom have been arrested. "The accused are identified as Parikshit Saini, resident of Shiv Vihar Colony, Kavindra Kataria, Manish Kataria, both residents of Gurgaon villae, and Nishant Sharma alias Nishu, resident of Dayanand Colony. We are trying to arrest two others who were also involved in the crime,"Surendra Pal Singh, DCP (West), said.

Police also recovered swords and rods from their possession, which was allegedly used for the murder.

Kavindra Kataria is a BTech student, while the main accused Parikshit Saini runs a mobile shop, "Saini Communication Center" on Sheetla Mata Road, Old Gurgaon. The two other arrested are unemployed, police said.

According to police, last Friday, Ravinder and his friends had gotten into two separate scuffles, one of which ended in the murder.

"During the wedding ceremony, Ravinder and his friends had an altercation with a group of men over a song being played by the DJ. However, those gathered at the function intervened and pacified the youngsters," a police officer said.

"Later, Ravinder and his friends were drinking in his car. He came out of the car and began urinating on the roadside. While he was doing so, another youth Naveen alias Happy, the younger brother of main accused Parikshit Saini asked Ravinder why was he urinating there and this led to a verbal duel. Happy left the spot and came back with Parikshit and his friends, carrying swords and rods. They then murdered Ravinder," the officer said.

All four accused were produced in a Gurgaon court and remanded in police custody for two days.
