  • A set of four stamps, each portraying the woman in her role as nurturer and preserver, will be released by Vice-President B S Shekhawat on March 8, International Women’s Day.

Printed at the Indian Security Press, Nasik, the stamps will be priced between Rs 5 and Rs 15. They will be available at all philately outlets across the country.

According to official sources, the covers symbolised the hopes, aspirations, skills and confidence of women. It may be mentioned here that in recent years, the government of India has taken a number of steps to improve the socio-economic status of women.
