Four persons allegedly committed suicide in different incidents in Lucknow on Saturday.
A 32-year-old woman, Neelam, reportedly hanged herself from the ceiling at her residence in Talkatora area. The incident came to light when the deceased’s son Shubham (14) came home and found his mother hanging. He rushed to his grandfather Ram Chandra’s house and informed him, who later passed the information to the police.
No suicide note has been recovered. Neelam’s husband Pappu is employed with a private firm.
“We had been informed that Neelam had earlier too attempted to commit suicide in a fit of rage,” said Sudhir Pal Dhama, in-charge of the Talkatora police station.
In another incident, Monika Nigam (32) was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her residence in Ghazipur area. No suicide note has been recovered. Monika’s husband Sanjeev Nigam is a sales manager in a pharmaceuticals firm. They have two children. “No case has been registered in this connection,” said Zahir Khan, in-charge of Ghazipur police station. He added that Monika’s parents had been informed about the incident.
The third incident was reported from Krishna Nagar locality, where Devendra Singh (55) allegedly jumped into a canal and died.
The canal is located 500 metre away from the house. According to the police, on Saturday morning, Devendra’s son Harmeet Singh visited the police station and informed that he had jumped into the canal last night. The police went to the site and fished out the body.
“According to the family members, last night Devendra came home in an inebriated state and entered into an altercation with them,” said A K Shukla, in-charge of the Krishna Nagar police station.
